TRANSCRIPT
Hoot Gibson: If there's one thing that's true to life, nothing stays the same. It changes. Whatever it changes.
Evan Stern: The great Charles Kuralt of CBS news once said, "You can find your way across this country using burger joints, the way a navigator uses stars." But in a fast paced, rapidly homogenizing world, places like these with memories etched in their grime are getting harder to find. And when they close, we lose a piece of our sometimes unsung and often irreplaceable history. Vanishing Postcards is a podcast in which I invite you to accompany me on a journey, exploring the hidden dives, traditions and offbeat attractions found by exiting the highways.
Angel: We don’t give a flying flip for most of your regular bar types!
Dancer: My momma said a dusty boot will make you trip, so you got to shake the dust off all the time.
Brian Mays: You don't need no teeth to eat my beef! You don't need no teeth at all.
Evan Stern: From dance halls to barbecue, joints, peach orchards, taco stands, and a few bars, we'll hear stories from the owners, workers and regulars who give these places, heart and soul. At times, humorous and often touching, the result is an immersive listening experience- Perfect for when you need a breather, but don't have the time or luxury of hitting the open road. I'm Evan stern. And I hope you'll join me for this season of Vanishing Postcards.
